The Central - Wan Chai Bypass tunnel is a central component of the strategically important road link on the north side of Hong Kong Island. The tunnel is 3.7 km long, has two carriageways with three lanes each and runs mostly under the water surface.
In June 2014, FILTRONtec was awarded the contract for the planning, delivery and installation of eight air filtration systems as a subcontractor of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government. The systems filter the entire exhaust air volume of 1,500 m³/s from the tunnel and thus ensure a significant improvement in air quality.
