The installation of air filters in road tunnels depends heavily on the local conditions. Whether as a bypass in a tunnel side room, at the tunnel ceiling or in a separate building - FILTRONtec is at your side during the planning stage to find the best technical and economical solution for your application.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Installation as a bypass<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For this option, the filter system is installed in a room next to the carriageway. The contaminated tunnel air is extracted via lateral openings in the tunnel wall, which are secured with grilles. After filtering, the purified air is either fed back into the carriageway area or discharged to the surroundings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Installation at the ceiling<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the case of ceiling installation, the filters are located on a false ceiling in the upper section of the tunnel tube. The polluted air is extracted upwards, filtered and then released back into the carriageway area or outwards into the surroundings. This option is particularly suitable for tunnels with a circular or oval cross-section.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Installation in a separate filter building<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If installation directly in the tunnel is not possible, the filter system can be installed in a separate building near the tunnel. The tunnel air is channelled to the filter building via a duct. After cleaning, the air can either be fed back into the tunnel or discharged to the surroundings. A practical example of this is the FILTRONtec filter system in the M5East tunnel in Sydney.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Air filter with switchable gas filter<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The concentrations of particulate matter and nitrogen dioxide in the air can fluctuate greatly throughout the day. FILTRONtec has, therefore, developed a system concept in which the gas filter can be switched on or off depending on the nitrogen concentration while the fine dust filter is in operation. This reduces operating costs significantly .<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Retrofitting existing tunnels<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Fine dust filters can also be retrofitted in existing tunnels. With an installation depth of just 1.60 m and a modular design, the filters can be adapted to any room cross-section. Thanks to the low pressure loss of only 50 Pa, no modifications to the exhaust air fans are required.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
